Description

1998 Moto Guzzi V10 Centauro

When launched at the Milan Motorcycle Exposition, the Centauro marked the waking up of the oldest manufacturer of motorcycles in Italy. Named for the Greek mythological half man, half horse, the half sportbike, half standard machine couldn’t be more appropriate.

Based on Guzzi’s John Wittner-developed eightvalve Daytona RS sportbike, the detuned fuel-injected, cam-in-head, 992cc motor claimed 94 horsepower at 8200 rpm and an awesome 72 ft lbs of torque. The frame is the same chrome-moly, rectangular section spine-type fitted to the Daytona RS with its fully adjustable WP 40mm inverted fork and shock. The riding position was changed to a more upright stance and the seat height reduced to just 28.3 inches and footpegs that are farther forward than the Daytona’s.

The V10 is a true allrounder, a tamed sportbike with stonking power in a nice ergonomic package.

The motorbike offered

The 1998 Moto Guzzi V10 Centauro offered here, in burgundy with silver accents livery has been enjoyed for some years by a San Diego enthusiast. In generally very good condition, the bike starts well and runs with oodles of power. All systems work as they should. The speedo was replaced and does not work, with a digital odometer that reads 882 miles, though true mileage is unknown.
