Description

c.1971 Honda CT70 Trail 70. Honda launched the CZ100 in 1960, and with it the “Monkey Bike” phenomenon, a craze of diminutive machines, that proves just as popular today. With folding handlebars, the bike could be stored in the trunk of your car, RV, etc. so definitely had a practical purpose, too. The ST70, introduced in 1969, was powered by an overhead-cam 72cc engine mounted in a more practical frame and telescoping forks, and it morphed in to the CT70 for 1971.

While the standard auto-clutch worked well for beginners, the buying public wanted a standard hand clutch and 4-speed gearbox, so Honda responded with the ‘H’ model. Produced from ’70 – ’72, the model is a rarity these days.

The c.1971 Honda CT70 Trail 70 on offer here, is presented in excellent condition throughout. Having covered a mere 744 miles from a lovely restoration on an original bike, the candy red livery has a lovely punch in the sunlight. The bike has been part of a discerning collection of cars and motorcycles in Southern California, on static display in a climate-controlled environment since purchase several years ago. It will be in need of some minor re-commissioning before returning to the road. It is accompanied by its original key.
