Ducati’s supremely capable Multistrada is a perfect culmination of a Supermoto and Sport Tourer, powered by the obligatory v-twin, originally offered in 1000cc form, in a trellis frame. A stunning design by the famed Pierre Terblanche, Ducati’s in-house guru of style and design, the somewhat controversial bike received some strong reviews, summed up by UK’s Motor Cycle News as “a truly versatile motorcycle”.
Powered by 94bhp worth of 90º V-twin with 76lbft of torque through Marelli electronic fuel injection and Desmodromic valve control, the bike is a fantastic canyon racer, stretching the Öhlins suspension, front and rear, or a state-by-state tour with the accompanying luggage, GPS and forgiving upright riding position.
The 1100S on offer here, shows an original 20,339 miles from new. The present owner bought the bike a few years ago and enjoyed it to the tune of a couple of thousand miles. It was serviced for several years by Ducati of Vermont, who performed a valve adjustment service about 3 years ago at 18,000 miles. In May of this year, a full belt and belt pulley service was performed with oil change and general service.
Cosmetically, the bike is in great shape. Very minor wear is present on the surfaces, the tank and bodywork free of scratches, scuffs and dings, but for scuffs to the outer edges of the hard case luggage from the tight storage in the previous owner’s garage.
The bike rides perfectly with great power and a fantastic sound from the Termignoni exhaust. The bike handles superbly and the Brembo brakes pull the bike up on a dime.
The Multistrada is a fabulous ride, fast and fun in the twisties or on the long haul. This example has obviously been well maintained and cared-for. The motorcycle comes with all books and keys (pictured).
