2007 Honda XR650R

2007 Honda XR650R, “The Big Red Pig”

Also known as The Dominator, the Honda XR650R is the 17th of 19 XR series motorcycles made, produced from 2000 to 2007 and, like its predecessor, conquered the Baja racing scene. Often thought of as an improved version of the XR600, the XR650R has triumphed over many desert and GNCC races in the hands of Johnny Campbell and Scott Summers. It came to life through Bruce Ogilvie, a visionary who wanted a dream bike mightier than the old XR600R. He wanted it to be able to hold its own in the unforgiving conditions of the Mexican peninsula.

With dozens of championships to its credit, the XR650R is the undisputed king of the desert, thanks to its lightweight aluminum frame, race-bred suspension and massively powerful liquid-cooled engine. This supremely reliable and compact engine weighs in at only 88 pounds and is mounted in a light but stiff aluminum frame.

Dirt Bike Magazine referred to the XR650R as “the gold standard of Baja bikes”.

The motorbike offered

The low-mile Honda XR650R on offer here is from the last year of production and is presented in excellent original condition complete with long range tank (IMS), and alloy skidplate and chain guide. It was bought by a prominent collector as you see it here and was placed on static display for past several years. As such, the bike will need re-commissioning before returning to off-road use. The bike is accompanied by a factory shop manual.
