Named for the coachbuilder and designer of the car, Sergio Scaglietti, the Ferrarri 612 Scaglietti, was introduced in 2004, and in the finest of Ferrari traditions: a front mounted, V12 engined and transaxled, continent-devouring GT car, capable of in excess of 200mph.
That V12 produced 540bhp, and was mated to an updated F1-type transmission with additional synchronisation cones, allowing for faster gear changes, while a traditional console-mounted shift gate allowed for selection of manual/automatic, 1st and reverse gears. In testing on Ferrari’s test track at Fiorano, the 612 Scaglietti proved itself some six seconds faster than the 456M; top speed was over 315km/h. And with a 0-60mph time of around 4 seconds, this proved to be a true Ferrari in every way, capable of delivering all the performance and passion for which the marque has long been famed.
With better weight distribution than the predecessor 456 (85% of the weight being located inside the wheelbase, compared to only 70%), handling was greatly improved. Car & Driver raved at the combined comfort, performance and easygoing personality of the Scaglietti.
The 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti on offer here, has been sparingly enjoyed by several owners over its 17 years. Displaying, a mere 13,500 miles from new, the car is offered in exceptional condition throughout. The very rare Blue Mirabeau exterior is all original paint and the most spectacular of colors. In bright sunlight the blue is a vibrant color, reflecting light in a playful incandescent way, but view the car in the shade and the blue becomes dark and dramatic.
The wheels are scuff free and shod with new tires as of April of this year. All glass is original and in excellent condition.
The interior is exquisite with negligible wear, even on the driver’s seat bolster. Dashboard, panels, carpet, and headliner are in excellent condition.
The car drives superbly. Fresh from a full belt service earlier this year, the car feels lively and powerful, shifting exquisitely through the F1 gearbox.
Accompanied by its original books and manuals, this 612 Scaglietti with its elegant colour scheme and desirable features, as well as connections to the finest models of the company’s past, would be an ideal addition to any private Ferrari collection.
