BMW’s R1150R was introduced in 2001 and was produced until 2005, featuring a 1130cc ‘boxer’ twin, as is the company’s tradition. Its comfort, versatility, and overall quality exude as only a BMW can. With the sporty RS, touring RT and adventure GS in the lineup alongside, the ‘R’ was the perfect all-rounder. Capable of high-speed tourer, as well as the perfect commuter, the ‘R’ is a supremely versatile machine.
The R1150R chassis and engine are shared by the GS, with 80+bhp, and 6-speed transmission. It also shares the telelever front suspension and paralever rear for canyon slicing handling.
The R1150R on offer here has been a commuter for its present owner for a few years. With only 11,800 miles from new, the bike is barely broken in, by BMW standards. The bike features a Remus exhaust for a nice raspy sound, not overly loud. Serviced locally, the bike is ready for its new duties as commuter, tourer with accompanying soft bags (yet to be photographed) and all round fun.
