2001 Ducati 900SS Custom

Ducati introduced an 8-valve, water-cooled V-twin Superbike contender in the late 1980s, immediately re-defining much of the model range. A super sports roadster was needed, and that niche was filled with the 900SS. At its heart was a belt drive, air-cooled, two-valves-per-cylinder v-twin, which could trace its roots to the Pantah 500 of 1978. Easy to own and maintain than the 851 Superbike, yet with a very capable 80bhp, enabling 140mph flat out on the exquisite handling machine.

The motorbike offered

The 2001 Ducati 900SS offered here comes from a local Southern California enthusiast. Since purchase, the bike was partially dismantled and overhauled including front and rear suspension, fresh clutch, overhaul of all brakes, full service including new belts, adjustments and oil change. The gas tank was removed and thoroughly cleaned and new fuel pump was installed with new filter and hoses and an overhaul of the injectors. Also, a new battery was installed. The bill for this recent work was nearly $3,500. The custom fairing was reinstalled and the bike was detailed.

The result: a fantastic riding machine. It starts very easily and has great power. It handles as a Ducati should and stops like one, too. And the sound is reminiscent of a 916 – thunderous and addictive.

In need of nothing but new tires (we would be happy to install the tires of your choosing under separate negotiation), the bike is ready for the next collector.
