Description
1996 BMW R850R
BMW’s R850R was introduced in 1994, powered by a 70bhp 850cc version of the big brother 1100 ‘boxer’ 4-valve twin, as is the company’s traditional layout. Its comfort, versatility, and overall quality led reviewers to deem it a successful combination of a venerable engine and frame layout with the latest technology. The R850R chassis and engine are shared by the GS.
The motorbike offered
The R850R on offer here hails from a California-based substantial collection of American and European bikes. A barn-find when discovered, the bike was stored for the decade or more, having covered 61,000 miles from new. Recently liberated, the bike is in need of re-commissioning to return it to the road. We would suggest fluids changed, new battery, fuel pump and general service to the fuel and spark systems. It will need a set of indicators. Cosmetically, the bike is in good overall condition considering age and mileage.
The bike is accompanied by a pair of rear panniers.
Sold, without reserve, on a clean, clear California title in non-op status, so no past registration fees are due to the California buyer.
