Moto Guzzi’s signature v-twin across the frame engine architecture started to gain a more devoted fanbase in the 1970s with the Le Mans. As Bike magazine put it ‘the sleekest, horniest thing you’ve ever seen on two wheels’, the Le Mans was sleek and capable of 130mph with Italian handling and effective brakes. 1978 saw the Mark II with minor upgrades and a nose fairing, but 1981 saw a greater revision in the Mark III with new cylinder heads, a new exhaust system and refreshed modern styling. Then the Le Mans IV was unveiled in 1984 with 1000cc of power, instantly making the Guzzi a definitive superbike and, today, highly collectible.
The 1986 Moto Guzzi Le Mans on offer here comes from a small but discerning Tennessee-based collection, owned since 2016. The bike features an 18” front wheel conversion (up from 17”), good Michelin Pilot Tires, La-Franconi exhaust, 40mm Performance Kits for Carbs with K&N Performance Filters, a Corbin Seat, a smoked grey windscreen, and stainless brake lines. The bike was regularly maintained with the last major service performed a few months ago. Now, showing 29,807 miles on the odometer, the bike is ready for the next custodian.
