Before the RC30 was the CB1100R. A homologation special based on the CB900F, it was the road-going version of what could be seen on racetracks around the world, including the Isle of Man in the hands of Ron Haslam, Wayne Gardner and Roger Marshall. The 115bhp ‘R’ was appropriately priced at close to double the standard bike. Sales were in limited numbers to race teams and wealthy collectors with only 4,050 produced over the 3-year run.
This highly original 1982 example was recently liberated from long-term storage in a collection in Japan. Imported a couple of months ago, this 32,000-mile example is offered in very good overall condition. Re-commissioned for the sale, the bike is a delight to ride, starting easily, idling perfectly smoothly, and with great power. All systems work as they should: brakes, suspension and all electrical. This is a great riding CB1100R that is sure to transform you to the rare superbike fantasies of the 1980s.
