1971 Yamaha 360cc RT1

Inspired by the success of the DT1 and AT1 a year earlier, Yamaha pulled out all the stops to release the beautiful black 360cc RT1 to the public in early 1970. Rumors had been circulating since the DT1’s release that an Open-classer was in the works, and the big Yamaha was almost everything the fans expected. The 360cc single produced 32bhp and the power went through a 5-speed ‘box. It came in two styles: a street equipped Enduro model and a stripped down motocrosser.

For 1970, the color scheme was black with yellow stripes, but that changed to a red stripe for the following year.

The motorcycle offered

The 1971 Yamaha 360cc RT1 offered here has been part of a collection of a former amateur offroad racer of many years ago. It was purchased about a decade ago from a Palm Springs owner who owned the bike since the mid-1980s. The sale of the bike is accompanied by original sales brochures, registrations and a clean, clear California title. On static display for some time, it will need the usual recommissioning before returning to the dirt.
