1970 Laverda 750S

In business as a farm machinery manufacturer since 1873, Laverda saw the niche of getting Italy moving after World War II shared by many including Piaggio and Fiat, with small effective, affordable transport. Little known outside Italy, the firm was delivered to the World’s Stage in the 1960s when a 650cc parallel twin and its 750cc brethren romped away with the 1968 Giro d’Italia win.

Introduced in 1969, the 750GT tourer and it’s sportier ‘S’ stablemate with 54bhp and 60bhp respectively, very few were made until succeeded by the 750SF.

The motorbike offered

Restored using original parts by Laverda experts, including engine work by Riccardo Oro, this 1970 750S shows beautifully with a nice paint job in an eye-catching factory color. Owned by a longtime member of the Laverda Club Breganze, the bike was recently imported to a US collector.

The overall condition of the bike is reported to be excellent. Given a thorough mechanical inspection and refresh by the team at Museo Moto Laverda, this Laverda starts readily and runs strong and handles well.  Odometer shows only 17,668 miles (28,434 km) believed accurate but not confirmed. Braking performance is decent for a drum set up.

A remarkable example of Laverda’s foray in to the 120mph superbike realm, this is a great addition to any serious collection and a real experience to ride.
