1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Project

1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Project

Oldsmobile spent over six decades building a reputation for solidly built, reliable and steadfast cars, but rarely fast or stylish. They were marketed to middle class drivers with a desire for middle-of-the-road power. But that all changed in 1964 with the 4-4-2 package for the Cutlass. It was the Olds answer to Chevy, Ford and Pontiac muscle. It put Oldsmobile in the throes of the Detroit muscle and power wars.

Through the 1960s, the bodywork became increasingly sleek to match the performance. The less obvious choice, the Oldsmobile has become an interesting alternative for the discerning muscle car enthusiast.

The motorcar offered

The 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme on offer here was found ailing and in need of restoration. The body needed replacement panels, though the bones were found to be solid. The body was repaired and prepared for the flat black with gloss black accents. A 4-4-2 hood scoop added with a set of 18” alloy rims and low-profile tires to complete the sinister profile of the car.

The interior was reworked into a matching black, while under the hood, the original 350ci Rocket V8 was upgraded with MSD electronic ignition, Edelbrock heads and Holley carb. The wiring was cleaned up and brakes and suspension gone through. In need of final finishing, this sleek black custom is close to its next cruise-in.
