Originally an aircrapft manufacturer, Aeronautica Macchi, founded in 1912 by Giulio Macchi in Varese, Italy, the firm started motorcycle manufacture in the post-WWII years. After a few years, Harley-Davidson, quite brilliantly, saw the onslaught of Honda and the increasing popularity of small displacement, fine handling machines, in contrast to their weighty cruisers. So, in 1960, they bought in to Italian concern, Aermacchi, with their diminutive , quintessentially European machines to be sold alongside their big V-twin brethren. Marketed as Harley-Davidsons in the USA and as Aermacchi-Harley-Davidsons elsewhere, the first models offered were re-badged versions of Aermacchi’s 250 and 350cc four-stroke horizontal singles. Hugely successful in production racing, they achieved an astonishing four of the top ten finishes in the Isle of Man Junior TT in 1969 and 1970.
The 1967 Aermacchi Harley-Davidson 350cc Sprint on offer here was purchased by our seller in the fully restored condition viewed here. The odometer now reads just 15 miles and from static display, the bike has just been serviced (carb overhaul, battery, service) to ready it for sale. Sold on a clean, clear title.
