This wonderful driving ’64 XKE was purchased in New Mexico 1966 by Michael Frustere, a petroleum engineer for Texaco. it must have remained in dealership inventory for the first couple of years of its life. In 1968, Mr. Frustere moved his family to New York, taking the car with them. It was used sparingly, with the occasional tour around the countryside, while it was otherwise garaged properly and with great care. In 1974, Michael was offered an overseas position with the firm, and so the Frustere family moved to Africa. The car remained in a secure garage in New York until 1981. Returning to The States in 1982, specifically to Dallas, the car was liberated from storage and joined the family for further occasional country drives. In 1983, the car returned to long-term professional storage in Dallas, while the family moved back to Africa and then Malaysia. The Frusteres returned to the US in 1994, settling in Bakersfield, California and the car rejoined them. Another move to Oxnard, California in 2001 where the car remained garaged but for sporadic drives and two or three trips to Northern California for British Car Club events/meetings. These were deemed by Michael’s daughter as the “heyday” of the car’s driving career. As Michael’s health began the fail, the car was used less and less, until his unfortunate passing. The car then passed to another Southern California collector and friend of the family about 3 years ago. He eventually retitled the car about a year ago, having performed a sympathetic mechanical restoration, including a new head gasket, aftermarket radiator with fan, and attention to brakes, all fluids, various adjustments, etc.
The car is offered in fine fettle. It starts exceptionally easily with partial choke and has great, responsive power. Brakes, suspension and steering all work as they should and the car is a true pleasure to drive.
