Famous for their racing machines, the Italian Gilera company earned their living by producing well-engineered lightweights and ultra-lightweights in the Italian tradition. The 1960s saw their greatest success in this competitive field.
The 1962 Gilera 124cc Giubileo on offer here, in racing trim, was listed as a “perfect restoration”, winning at the 2012 Dana Point Concours d’Elegance. Prior to concours success, it saw competition, extensively raced in the AHRMA series. Since Dana Point success, this delightful little bike has been a part of the MotoTalbott Museum in Carmel, California. Having been on static display for some time, the bike has been re-commissioned to ready it for sale, but further fettling may be necessary before returning it to its status as track weapon.
