The Bonneville’s 120mph story is well known and told by Triumph enthusiasts, often over a pint. But in 1958, it was a Tiger T110 that set a production record of over 147mph… admittedly with two carbs. A development of the Thunderbird tourer, the T110 prototype performed brilliantly in the 1953 ISDT, thus providing the production version – launched later that year – with invaluable publicity. The first Triumph with swinging-arm rear suspension, the T110 came with a revised engine incorporating a stronger crankshaft, high-compression pistons, larger inlet valves and ‘hotter’ cams. The T110 remained in production into 1961.
This superb 1955 Triumph 650cc Tiger T110 underwent full restoration under prior ownership. Having remained on static display for some time, it was treated to a full re-commissioning to ready it for sale, and is now in fine running condition.
