Triumph’s Speed Twin was a bit of a game-changer. Edward Turner’s upright twin engine architecture in a sturdy frame offered good levels of reliability, performance, and handling. Various iterations were developed from the original, including the T100 Tiger, a 500cc, single carburetor, originally launched in 1938, reappearing after the War in 1946 with telescopic forks in place of the original girders, and separate dynamo and magneto instead of the pre-war version’s magdyno.
This superb 1947 Triumph 499cc Tiger T100 underwent full restoration under prior ownership. Purchased from Baxter Cycles of Iowa, the bike remained on static display for some time, but was treated to a full re-commissioning to ready it for sale. It is now in fine running condition.
