1947 Sunbeam S7
Engine no. S72034
Frame no. S72034
1947 saw the introduction of the Erling Poppe designed Sunbeam S7. Over-engineered, the bike was loosely based on BMW’s offerings of the time and was powered by a pre-war BSA inspired OHC 500cc twin, driving a shaft drive to the rear wheel. Very few of the original S7 Tourer were produced, reportedly little more than 2,000, in part because the exquisite Art Deco styling would far outstrip the performance. But when it looks that good, do you want to go fast?
The matching-numbers S7 on offer here has been part of a prominent Southern California collection for several years. In the very attractive “Policia” livery this beautifully restored motorcycle has covered less than 400 miles since. Serviced and ready for sale, the bike is in fine tune, runs well and all cycle and electrical systems work as they should.
Sold with a clean, clear California title.
